Project for Saturday 5-22-10, Helping Ferrees move on Sunday

Hey, everyone!

Sonny here, on behalf of Dave Ferree (who is wrapping up the pack-up for the move-out). This week only, have we got a deal for you! We've got a project on Saturday, and we're helping Dave and his family pack up their moving truck on Sunday! If you have any questions about either one, feel free to call me at 310-418-3552.

SATURDAY

This week, we're heading to the trailer park on McKinney, East of Loop 288, to help out Ione Miller. She's got some physical limitations, and we're going to focus on repairing her exterior stairs and some yard and tree work.

We're meeting at the SWEAT Team office at 8:30, and we'll be heading out to the site at 9:00. Should be wrapped by noon. Here's a link to the map that shows the entrance to the trailer park (hers is Unit #286):

SUNDAY

We have one last opportunity to give the family of our fearless leader some love by helping them pack up their moving truck before they head out on Monday! Feel free to drop by anytime on Sunday between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, and join us in slinging some boxes and furniture! (Just kidding, Frances...we're not going to actually sling anything.) The Big Ferree Send-Off Shindig

Calling all SWEAT Teamers:

Sonny Bynum here, blogging on behalf of our fearless leader, who is leading...his family to another field of mission!

As many of you know, by June 1st, the Ferree family will have permanently moved to New York City, in order to continue ministry there and have great bagels.

To wit, we are going to send them off in style. There will be a party. Oh, yes. There will be a party.

What: A celebration of Dave Ferree and his family, to honor their many contributions and wish them well in NYC

When: Sat., May 15th, 2010, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

Important Info Meeting - 4/17

SWEAT Teamers:

We have an important SWEAT Team meeting this Saturday at 9 AM at the SWEAT Team office. We are going to give out important information on the positions that the volunteers will take when I leave in June. These positions involve administration, contacting volunteers and clients, coordinating projects, and warehouse organization and tools. Also, after the informational meeting, we will get organized for the Arts and Jazz Festival coming up on April 24th and 25th.

See you at the office at the usual time on Saturday.

Important SWEAT meeting

Hey SWEAT Team,

We are having a very important meeting involving the direction of the SWEAT Team this Saturday morning (Feb 20th) 7:30am at the SWEAT Team office. My last day for heading the team will be Feb 27th. The elder over the SWEAT Team, Allen Chamberlain will be there, and also Mike Sheer of Missions. Please make this meeting for our future.

SWEAT Team,

Mona's house in Oak Bluff is progressing quickly; the soffet is completed, the sway is almost done, tree work and landscaping should be completed Saturday so we can concentrate on the inside. We can work on this project if it is raining; so please come. We also need a leader Saturday to head up a small wheelchair ramp on Frame St. near McKinney St. Let me know!! As usual we meet at the SWEAT Team office (702 S. Locust) at 8:45am and go till noon.

Hey SWEAT Team,

Today the Wednesday group accomplished much for Mona Knight; the place we go to on Saturday. The north soffet was completed and the much needed tractor work to funnel the water away from the house so it doesn't flood again was almost completed. Saturday, we complete the south soffet, finish the sway, landscape and construct 2X4 frames inside. If you can't make the office Saturday, meet at the gate of Oak Bluff ( 380 past Rock Hill Rd) at 9:30am. As usual meet at the SWEAT Team Office (702 S. Locust) at 8:45am. Volunteers are encouraged to stop by the booth for the Ministry Fair coming up Jan 17th and 24th. We need to get people signed up!!

Sweat Teamers,

Hope the Holidays were good for you!! This last Saturday we were able to prep for the project in Oak bluff Estates and will work there this Wednesday and Saturday morning. This women suffers from poor health due to being exposed to a toxic chemical when younger. Her husband left her and only gave her a garage to live in which floods every hard rain. We are putting in a sway to channel the water away from the house and hope to put up insulation and sheet rock. Also, we have some tree work. As usual we meet each day at the office (702 S. Locust) @ 8:45am.
