SWEAT Teamers,
I have neglected to mention our Wednesday group on the blog. We do projects on Wed. mornings and have a great team. Allison Kami and Artiz Stroud are the only ones who specifically come out on Wed and are an important part of the team. The last couple of Wednesdays we have helped Mona Knight with her flooded home with tearout and clean up, and the next step is to put the walls back up. Saturday we go back to Masch Branch Rd for wheel chair ramp work, tile work, and doors. Bring carpentry tools, saws and drills.

SWEAT Team Projects
SWEAT Team Projects,
We got a good start on the Bickham's house (1401 Masch Branch Rd.) on Saturday. We got the posts in for the wheelchair ramp and got the tar paper on the well house. This Saturday we hope to shingle the well house and get most of the ramp completed. Also, Tracy Martin will be helping a younger guy who uses a wheelchair build 2 small ramps at his house in Corinth. We had a great time with a new volunteer on Saturday, Matt Hart, please welcome him when he comes again on the 19th. As usual, we meet at the SWEAT Team office (702 S. Locust) at 8:45am and go till noon.
Thanks for your hard work,
Dave Ferree

SWEAT Team Project
SWEAT Teamers,
We have another great opportunity to help a really neat family; Lynn's house on Navajo was finally completed. The new family at 1401 Masch Branch Rd is near Luke's house. Both Parents are in poor health; their daughter was in an accident recently and is bed ridden.
The really terrible thing that happened to this precious family is that a carpentry business scammed them out of a lot of money and did a shoddy job to boot. As far as work goes, we will be roofing on a water shed, window framing, flooring, and tub/tile work. Tools needed are battery-powered drills and circular saws, frame squares, and trim nail guns. If you don't have these, bring regular carpentry tools.
Show up at the SWEAT Team office (702 S.Locust) at 8:45am and we go till noon. It will be cold, so bring appropriate clothing and gloves.
See you Saturday, Dave

As always we meet at the SWEAT Team Office at 702 S. Locust St around 8:45am Saturday.

New SWEAT Team Projects
We had an incredible time of reaching both Rose St. and Navajo St. in the month of September on the SWEAT Team. We are helping 4 or 5 homes in these neighborhoods while passing out bread and pastries with evangelism teams giving the real Bread of Life. Relationships are key to reaching the community and that is what we did with a neighbor next to Lynn Lawrence house on Navajo St. Tomorrow's project will be going back to Lynn's house at 2001 Navajo St to finish scraping the floor and more yard work. We meet at the SWEAT Team office (702 S. Locust) at 8:45am and go till noon.

SWEAT Team Project for Sept. 12th
SWEAT Teamers,
My heart is always to go in poor neighborhoods and reach these wonderful people. We have that opportunity this Saturday to help Angel Merez. We will be building a railing for her wheelchair ramp, clean up with her house, and the neighbor across the street. It is always a good idea to bring water, bug spray, and suntan lotion. We can do this project rain or shine. Angel lives here in Denton at 620 Rose St.

SWEAT Teamers,
After doing some great flooring work for Mary Lee, we want to go back finish with the floor and do some yard work. If you remember from last week, her husband is the one who is in a wheelchair due to illness. Here is their address.
Also we hope to help stain the Hangar on the DBC campus. The Hangar is the log cabin looking building on the corner of Nottingham and Mingo.
Meagan wants to remind you to bring water, bug spray, and suntan lotion. All these will better prepare you for the elements!
As always please come by the SWEAT Team office (702 S. Locust) at 8:45am and go till noon.

We will be going back to what is the heart of our ministry in building a wheelchair ramp for a lady in Lake Dallas who suffers from dizziness so bad she has to use a walker to go anywhere. This a large ramp that is 24 ft long and will connect to a deck. Here is the address.
Also, we go again to Cement City and help Doug Alcala in the Oasis Apts. This is special because we work alongside the people including kids who live in the apartment. Work includes painting, landscaping, and yard work. Here is a map to the site.
Meagan Butler had a great idea in bringing along bottled water, sunscreen, and bug spray to the project. I encourage you to do so as well.

New SWEAT Team projects for 7-11-09
SWEAT Teamers,
After enjoying some time of rest and fun during the 4th of July weekend, we are jumping back in to more projects tomorrow (Saturday). We will be helping Sandy Hought, a widow who lost her husband to a heart attack. She had to go back to work after many years and needs her interior walls "mudded" and painted. There will also be some light yardwork to do, to help her avoid city fines. This is a great opportunity to help her with her house in Corinth due to the great load she is under. Here is the map to Sandy's house.
We also have the opportunity to bless a single mom, Gail McClain, who has a child with Down's Syndrome, and needs help repairing her roof. If we have enough volunteer help, we can address this, so be prepared for hot weather!! Here is Gail's address.

New SWEAT Team Projects 6/27/09
SWEAT Teamers,
We have the exciting opportunity to help Doug Alcala reach out to the people of Cement City. Doug lives in the Oasis apartment complex, and we will be working on the Oasis apartments alongside the people who live there. Work includes painting, landscaping, and clean-up. This is a great opportunity for us to reach the most broken area of Denton. Here is a map for the Oasis Apartments.
We also are partnering with Cornerstone Ministry to help Joseph, a single dad with one daughter, move into a trailer. Cornerstone is a singles ministry of Denton Bible Church. This is a good fit, because Joseph is raising his daughter alone. Here is a map to his current apartment here in Denton.
As always, please come to the SWEAT Team office at 8:45am on Saturday to help out. Hope to see you there!

New Projects for 6/20/09
SWEAT Teamers,
This Saturday we are going to help Nick Stephens' home on Campbell St. Nick is the guy who has a ministry in Dallas that ministers to crack addicts and homeless people and will eventually have a church on Malcolm X Blvd. We hope to put a door in, install a sink, and put in cement. For this, we'll be meeting at the SWEAT Team office and going over together, but just in case you need it, here's the Google map to that location.
We also have Angie Wholley from Friends of the Family speaking to us about women abused in the home; she will speak at 9:00am sharp. Please arrive before that to show respect to her.
Ed Jones wanted me to pass along some info to everyone about a mission trip to East Tennessee in October. We'll be attending an Apple Festival (should be fun!) and then helping Charlie and Earlene Cornett with their ministry. We'll be working in his warehouse, repairing homes, etc. The start date is firm, Oct 1st. I don't have a duration yet.
I'm trying to get a feel for how many we might bring, so if you're interested, please contact Ed at ejones@dentonbible.org. Oh yeah, the first weekend, we'll be sleeping in the basement of the church. After that, we'll have rooms at the local motel.
Bless you for all you do for His church.
